PEOTTER'S PICKS

THIS GUIDE IS A TOOL

Many people ask for recommendations for voting because of being a former councilman and my involvement in politics.  I am not trying to tell people how to vote I am merely sharing my opinion which is generally based on my Christian worldview and first-hand knowledge of the candidates or the issues. Check out he links section for other voter info. I am a Christian, a conservative and a Republican in that order.

VOTER FRAUD

With all the accusations of voter fraud and ballot harvesting. The potential for cheating and fraud is great because every single voter in the entire state is going to be mailed a ballot, look how many empty legitimate ballots are going to be out there with the potential for cheating.
If you receive a ballot at your address for someone that no longer lives there write on the face of the envelope "DOES NOT LIVE HERE - RETURN TO SENDER" at put it in a mail box.

VOTE EARLY

I recommend that you vote early and deposit your ballot in an approved voter collection box, strategically located thoughout the county, or vote in person early at a voting center. As a last resort mail your ballot so that it is postmarked by November 3, 2020. Realize that if it isn't delivered in time it may not count. Use the link below to find a voter dropbox

PRESIDENTIAL RACE

In this race, you have enough input, you don't need to hear my arguments. I only offer to you a list Trumps accomplishments put together by the Family Research Center

TRUMP ACCOMPLISHMENTS

FEDERAL RACES

39 th District:
Young Kim
Young has a great chance of winning. Good prolife Conservative
45 th District:
Greg Raths
Greg is a retired USMC Colonel, conservative, pro-life and strong defense guy, going against a very liberal AOC type Democrat
46 th District:
James S. Waters
Probably the most conservative Candidate in the OC Congressional races. He is going against a moderate Democtrat in Democrat Santa Ana, tough road.
47 th District:
John Briscoe
John is also in an uphill battle in a strongly Dem district against octogenarian liberal Alan Lowenthal. John is a great conservative and needs your support.
48 th District:
Michele Steel
Michele is our current OC Supervisor and has been campaigning for this seat since 2018. She is a great conservative. She was born in Korea, raised in Japan and moved to the US, where she witnessed in her parents business what regulations do to small businesses. She is a true taxfighter.
49 th District:
Brian Maryott
Brian is going against a liberal Dem in this San Diego/OC district. Not as conservative as I would like but so much better than the Dem. He will do a great job in the Congress. In a really tough race as the San Diego portion of the district is not so conservative.

CALIFORNIA STATE RACES

STATE SENATE

29th State Senate
Ling Ling Chang
Current Senator, beat Josh Newman when he was recalled for the gas tax 2 years ago.  She deserves to be re-elected, send Josh Newman back to whatever rock he crawled out from under.
37th State Senate
John Moorlach
John is our stalwart taxfighter and only CPA in the legislature. No wonder we have all this deficit spending, they seem to be all attorneys (insert attorney joke of your choice here). If you remember Moorlach started his political career by calling out teh OC Treasurer for bad investment policies and correctly predicting the County bankruptcy. Now he is calling out the state's irresponsible financial policies and identifying the cities with problems on the horizon. We need to send John back.

STATE ASSEMBLY

55th Assembly District
Phillip Chen
Incumbent, great for business and conservative issues. Has done a great job in the Assembly.
65th Assembly District
Cynthia Thacker
Good Conservative, tough race in a Dem District
68th Assembly District
Steven "Steve" Choi
Incumbent, strong pro-family candidate, and a personal friend. Very liberal (AOC type) attorney and current Irvine councilwoman, Melisa Fox, is running against Steven. Fox is backed with a lot of money. THe Dems want this seat bad. They want to pad their super-majority in Sacramento.
69th Assembly District
Jon Paul White
Good conservative in a dem district in Santa Ana. This is more than a tough district, this is an impossible district for Reps. But this is a district that needs a Republican representative more than others as its mostly Latino constituents are not served well by the Democrats.
72nd Assembly District
Janet Nguyen
Janet is the Republican that replaced Republican Tyler Diep after he got elected 2 years ago and then proceeded to vote like a Dem. In fact the Dems almost didn't run a candidate here because Tyler was voting Dem. Janet stepped up and ran and beat Tyler in the March primary. She is a strong Republican.
73rd Assembly District
Laurie Davies
Laurie stepped up and ran against incumbent Republican Bill Brough who was accused of sexual improprieties and misuse of campaign funds. Republicans tend to clean their own house and Laurie will do a good job, in this very Republican district.
74th Assembly District
Diane Dixon
Diane is my former colleague on the Newport Beach City Council. She ran a great campaign in the primary against a fellow conservative and won, allowing her to go after liberal Laguna Beach Democrat Cottie Petry-Norris. Diane will be a huge step up. This will be a tough race as the district includes Democratic strongholds in Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and UCI.

STATE PROPOSITIONS

Proposition 14
NO
Authorizes additional borrowing for stem cell research
Proposition 15
NO
Revokes Prop 13 for Commercial Properties
Proposition 16
NO
Reverses Prop 209 to again allow Race to be considered in UC Admissions
Proposition 17
NO
Allows convicted felons on parole to Vote. Normally I would say that someone that has served his time should get his constitutional rights back. But the fact that the person is still on Parole indicates that they have not finished serving their time. One of the concerns is that they are still under the control of their Parole Officer. So an unscrupulous Parole office could "force" their parolee to vote a certain way.

The success of this Proposition This will also likely open up to the next step of allowing incarcerated prisoners to vote. Many people look at this as widening the Democratic voting block. But obviously it could go either way.
Proposition 18
NO
Allows 17 year-olds to vote in the primary if they are going to be 18 in the General. I do not think many 17 year olds are mature enough to vote. I again think this wrong as this will be the first step toward lowering the voting age to 16.
Proposition 19
NO
Raises taxes for transfer of properties between family members. It is trying to buy votes by allowing 55 and older to transfer their low property tax status to a new house more than once (current law allows once). This is a good thing. But if/when that same family member wants to transfer that house to their kids or other family member, the taxes currently do NOT get re-assessed. Under this proposition they will be reassessed and taxes will go up on the property. This is a net TAX INCREASE.
Proposition 20
YES
Reverses previous propositions making stiffer penalties for criminals
Proposition 21
NO
Allows local governments to enact rent control
Proposition 22
YES
Reverses AB5 allowing lyft and Uber drivers to be classified as independent contrators
Proposition 23
NO
Requires Dialysis Centers to have an on-site doctor raising costs for all patients. Same proposition that was defeated a couple of years ago.
Proposition 24
NO
Enacts changes to the Consumer Privacy Act and creates a state "privacy" agency.
Proposition 25
NO
Ends Cash Bail in California

ORANGE COUNTY RACES

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Andrew Do
Andrew is in a tough race against a union supported Democrat. It is important to keep the board in Republican hands.

Current Mayor Foley is a very big government Democrat with aspirations for higher office

There are several good candidates running, many of whom are friends. I tried to pick the candidates that are the most likely to prevail as there are only 3 liberals/Dems in the race and the conservatives will split the vote

Christina is a Very Conservative Mayor and she works hard for Irvine and should be re-elected.
Mike Carroll stands out from the crowd as someone that Knows what he is doing and genuinely cares for his constituents. Christina, Mike, John and Carrie were endorsed by the Republican Party.

CAUTION
Liberal former councilman Larry Agran is running again for council. He is falsely trying to use the Veterans Cemetery as way in. Do not be deceived he protested with Jane Fonda back in the 70's he didn't care about Vets then and I doubt he cares now.

Member of the Republican Central Committee

Current Mayor fantastic conservative

Member of the Republican Central Committee

Current Mayor, Member of the Republican Central Committee, strong leader, strong conservative
Brad has done a great job for the last 4 years and deserves to be re-elected
Noah is a newcomer and is challenging incumbent Jeff Herdman. Jeff needs to be replaced. He does not represent his district well.

Cecilia was recalled by the police union last year. It was ugly, it seems as though there were no lies too big to tell in order to get her off the council for opposing a pay raise for the Cops. Surprisingly, she still isnn't out there like her colleagues calling for defending the police.
Thomas is a great conservative running in a very liberal town. Santa Ana would do well to elect Thomas, a member of the Republican Central Committee
